Armored Fiber Patch Cords That Survive the Field
A flexible stainless steel tube runs under the jacket and takes the damage that would otherwise reach the fiber. The result is a patch cord that behaves optically like a standard one, but survives rodents, crush loads and years of outdoor exposure.
- Rodent-proof stainless steel construction
- Crush-resistant for aerial, duct and cabinet runs
- SC/LC · single mode or multimode · APC or UPC
- Any length, tested and shipped with a test report

Why armored
The cable is the cheapest part of a truck roll
Replacing a patch cord in the field costs far more than the cord itself. Armor removes the most common cause of that return trip, which is why distributors across multiple regions worldwide buy it by the thousands.
Rodent-proof
The stainless steel tube is a physical barrier. Field returns from rodent-damaged cables drop to near zero, which matters most in rural FTTH and aerial runs.
Crush-resistant
Armor protects the fiber from being pinched by cable ties, cable trays, ducting edges or being stepped on during installation.
Built for harsh environments
Outdoor cabinets, industrial plant, tunnels and mines: constant temperature swings, moisture and vibration are normal, not exceptional.
No optical penalty
Armor sits around the buffer, not in the light path — insertion loss stays at ≤0.3 dB with the same connector options as standard cords.
Construction
What is actually inside
From the outside in: outer jacket, flexible stainless steel armour tube, aramid strength members, tight-buffered fiber — then the connector assembly at each end.
- Outer jacket in LSZH, PVC or PE, 2.0 mm or 3.0 mm nominal
- Corrugated stainless steel tube armour, bendable by hand
- Aramid yarn strength members for tensile loads
- 900 µm tight-buffered fiber, colour-coded to your scheme
- Standard SC/LC connector assembly with dust caps fitted
The armour is inside the jacket and cannot be seen on a finished cord. To verify construction, order a stripped sample — we supply cutaway samples on request.

Made to order
Everything on an armored cord is configurable
| Specification | What we can build |
|---|---|
| Connector | SC, LC, FC, ST — simplex or duplex, hybrid combinations available |
| End-face | UPC (blue) or APC (green, 8° angle) |
| Fiber mode | SM OS2 9/125; MM OM1/OM2/OM3/OM4 (50 or 62.5 µm) |
| Length | Made to order 0.5 m – 100 m+, with a length tolerance you approve |
| Outer jacket | LSZH, PVC, or PE for heavy outdoor duty; 2.0/3.0 mm nominal |
| Core count | Simplex and duplex as standard; multi-core on request |
Applications
Where armored cords earn their cost back
FTTH / FTTx outdoor drops
Aerial and duct runs where rodent and crush damage is the leading failure mode.
Base stations & 5G front-haul
Tower and cabinet connections exposed to weather and vibration.
CCTV & security networks
Perimeter and industrial camera runs installed in the open.
Industrial Ethernet
Factory floors where fork-lifts, vibration and swarf are everyday risks.
Mining & energy sites
Heavy-duty runs in tunnels and remote installations.
Harsh outdoor cabinets
Cross-connect and splice closures with limited bend and crush protection.

Quality & supply
100% tested, and a programme built for distributors
Every armored cord is measured for insertion loss and return loss before packing, and the report ships with the goods. Distributors get consistent lead times, OEM packaging and a single point of contact who knows your part numbers.
- IL ≤0.3 dB and RL ≥50 dB (UPC) / ≥60 dB (APC)
- Per-cord test report included with the shipment
- OEM packaging, your label and your part number
- Bulk and repeat-order scheduling with stable lead times
- Cutaway and pre-production samples available
